Creating a Relationship

Step 1: Open a Profile

Navigate to the profile you want to create a relationship from. Open it in edit view.

Step 2: Find the Relationships Section

On the profile page, look for the Relationships section or tab. This shows any existing relationships the profile has.

Step 3: Add a New Relationship

Click Add Relationship and provide:

  • Relationship Type — Select from the list of available types (Spouse, Parent, Child, etc.)
  • Connected Profile — Search for and select the other person you want to connect to

Step 4: Save

Save the relationship. Both profiles will now show the connection in their relationships section.

How Relationships Work

Bidirectional Linking

When you create a relationship, both profiles are linked together. The relationship record stores references to both the "from" and "to" profiles. This means if you add "Jane" as a spouse of "John", you can see this relationship from either Jane's or John's profile.

Multiple Relationships

A profile can have any number of relationships. A person might be a spouse to one profile, a parent to two others, and a sibling to another — all at the same time.

Viewing Relationships

Relationships for a profile are displayed on the profile's detail page. You can see:

  • The relationship type (e.g. Parent, Sibling)
  • The connected profile's name
  • Quick access to navigate to the connected profile

Removing a Relationship

To remove a relationship, find it in the profile's relationships section and delete it. This removes the connection from both profiles.

Use Cases

  • Family linking — Connect parents to children so staff can see family groupings
  • Emergency contacts — Know who is related to whom for emergency situations
  • Household grouping — Understand which profiles belong to the same family for communications
  • Event management — See which family members are all attending an event
