Tags and Tagging

Overview

Tags are coloured labels you can attach to any content item in Qik. They provide a flexible way to categorise, filter, and visually distinguish your data without needing to create custom fields or definitions.

Adding Tags

You can add tags to any content item (profiles, events, articles, workflow cards, etc.) when creating or editing it. Tags are displayed as coloured pills/badges on the item.

Quick Tagging

Type a tag name and press enter to add it. If the tag already exists, it will be suggested as you type. If it doesn't exist yet, a new tag is created automatically.

Available Tag Colours

Tags can be assigned colours to help visually group or prioritise items. Common uses include:

  • Red tags for urgent or high-priority items
  • Green tags for approved or completed items
  • Blue tags for informational or in-progress items

Using Tags for Filtering

Tags integrate with the filter system across the platform:

  • List pages — Filter any list by tag to quickly find tagged items
  • Smart Lists — Include tag-based filter rules in your saved queries
  • Search — Tags are searchable, so you can find tagged content through the search bar

Tags in Workflows

Workflow step automations can automatically add or remove tags when cards enter or exit steps. This is useful for:

  • Marking profiles as "in process" when they enter a workflow
  • Adding a "completed" tag when a card finishes
  • Removing temporary tags when a card moves to the next step

Batch Tagging

You can add or remove tags from multiple items at once using the batch editing feature. Select multiple items on a list page, then use the batch actions to apply tags in bulk.

Tips

  • Keep tag names short and descriptive
  • Establish a consistent tagging convention across your team
  • Use tags for temporary categorisation and custom fields for permanent data
  • Tags are shared across your organisation — anyone with edit access can add or remove tags
